English: Writing Concentration

No new students may elect the A.A. English: Writing concentration as of July 1, 2017. Currently enrolled students are encouraged to contact their academic advisor to plan how to complete their A.A. degree.

Overview

The English: Writing concentration prepares students for transfer to Bachelor of Arts programs in writing, critical thinking, journalism, and/or communication. Students who select this option may also transfer to Bachelor of Fine Arts programs in creative writing.

Students who are matriculated and place into developmental math and/or English are required to begin the course sequence in the first semester. Please see an advisor with questions.

ENL131 Technical Writing

This course introduces students to technical and professional writing within a career setting. Students learn to write reports, instructions, summaries, e-mails, and memos using content and language appropriate to the reader. Students use technology tools to create document layout and design, and to report, interpret and organize statistical information and data.

Prerequisite: ENL101
